    Holyport FC History

Holyport Football Club is believed to have been originally founded in the late 1920s and was re-founded after the Second World War in 1956. The current Honorary President, Mr. Norman House originally played for the Club and was their captain for a period until he retired in the late 1960’s. He has now been associated with the club for a total of 50 years and together with Club Chairman, Tony Andrews and his son Jason, the three of them have almost 100 years of combined service.   Norman still attends matches and has a keen interest in the Club.

After the club was re-founded the team was in the Maidenhead and District League and the home ground was in the Windsor Road at Bray. On leaving that league the club joined the Hayes and Giles League where they played their home games at Braywick Park. Holyport elected to leave that League at the end of 2001/2002 after three very successful seasons. They joined the Hellenic League Division 1 East at the beginning of the 2002/2003 season and moved to their current ground at Summleaze Village in North Maidenhead two seasons later.

This move signaled the start of a new and exciting era for the club.   Having secured the necessary planning permission as well as funding from the Football Foundation the new ground has been in a state continuous of improvement.   In season 2007/8 the ground was fenced and floodlights installed and since then has seen further improvments to the changing facilities and the commencement of hard standing around the pitch.    These changes are the culmination of several years of hard work and represent a major step in meeting the F.A. ground grading requirements for the club to continue to play at this level.

The 2009/2010 season saw the first team finished third in the league and, although not attaining the goal of promotion, it was by far their best performance in the Hellenic League.

With the Reserves finishing third in divison 2 East and winning the Presidents Reserve Cup, the third cup triumph for them in successive seasons it was a very successful season both on and off the field.

These continuous improvements, both of and off the pitch, have all contributed in progressing the Club's ambitions of playing in the F.A. Carling Vase which they did in the 2008/9 season and can now look forward to competing in the F. A. Cup in 2010/2011.

Additionally for the 2009/10 season Club Secretary, Graham Broom, was jointly awarded the prestigious Hungerford Cup which is given to the Secretary/Club who has shown the most development throughout the season and, in particular, recognizes the tremendous amount of hard work that Graham has put in season after season.

Jamie Handscomb was also recognised by the League this season in winning the Divisional Player of the Year award, the third time a Port player has won this trophy, since Holyport joined the Hellenic League in 2002.

2010/11 Season was a historic season for Holyport.  The new mangement team of Derek Sweetman, Kevin Carvell and Calvin Maye led the side to the Uhlsport Hellenic 1 Divison East title, The Floodlit Cup and The Challenge Cup.

The Club delivered their promise of a seated stand in May 2011 and phase 2 of the ground developments are already in the planning.
