HOLYPORT 3    WOKINGHAM AND EMBROOK 4

Satsumas leave bitter taste at Holyport

Holyport 3 V Wokingham and Embrook 4

Holyport took on run awayleaders at Summerleaze and blew a three nil led and with it their chance to go
top of the league (if they won games in hand).

Port started brightly and completely dominated the first 25 minutes of the game.  The wind was causing problems for the Wokingham keeper as he flapped at several crossers and nearly punched a clearance into his own goal.

The break finally came for Port through the industrious Driver. A quick free kick from Reed sent Driver
clear and after using his strength to see off the Wokingham centre back he passed the ball into the net.  Port gained much a deserved lead.  The next ten minutes
continued to see Port pepper the Wokingham goal and Handscomb headed over, Driver headed wide and a Wokingham defender nearly scored an own goal whilst clearing.

It took until the 20th minute for Wokingham to create anything, this was after a full melee which involved
all 22 players and the Wokingham bench, which saw the Wokingham manager sent fromthe pitch.  All his all came from a Jones tackle, which him cautioned.

Bland was the main threat for Wokingham, coming deep and running at the Port defence.  He created everything albeit long range efforts.  Port went in at half time 1 - 0 up and should have been disappointed it was not two or three.

The second half started with a bang as Driver was fouled on the edges of the box, Reed whipped in a free kick for Driver to poke home and tThen four minutes later Reed delivered a corner which went straight in 3 - 0 after 51 minutes.  Port were in wonderland.

Then in the 54th minute Port's Sharp took a quick free kick which Wokingham intercepted, the Wokingham
winger delivered a cross and the unfortunate Coleman put into his own goal.  This goal from nowhere caused
uncertainly in the Port ranks and gave Wokingham some hope.  The next thirty six minutes Port failed to
close the game down, and instead of slowing the game down they continued to bomb forward in search of the fourth goal.

In the 67th minute a clearance fell to the Wokingham number 8 and he had enough time to bring the
ball down, take another touch then smash it top corner, 2-3 and it would get worse.  Three minutes later
and it was three all.

Then the hard working Bland hit the post after a great save from Collis, Ports Lennon then had a 25 yard
effort saved.  The watching Port faithful had seen this all to many times and as against Kintbury, Henley and
now Wokingham Port conceded a 90th minute goal to lose the three
points.

Wokingham are a good young side but lessons must be learned about defending a lead.  All in all Port would have taken a point as both sides played well in difficult conditions.

Holyport: Collis, Sharp, Coleman, Reeve, Reed, Rapley, Jerrum, Lennon (C), Jones, Driver & Handscomb
