From the very first minute  you could sense that Wokingham were up for this game and Holyport seemed to be stuck in first gear.   From the first Suma’s attack they were awarded a free kick centrally on the edge of the box.

The Wokingham player with the whole goal to go for curled a free kick in to Murphys top left corner.  It was a great free kick but after two minutes not the start Holyport had been looking for.

The game in Holyport’s eye did not improve as passes went astray and the whole team were struggling to link up with one another.  Whereas after Wokingham’s  great start they were looking dangerous with every attack.

Holyport’s first attack on goal came from a weak James Flint effort that was comfortably saved.  Lewis Driver then turned his marker and shot straight at the keeper.  In the 19th minute Holyport’s chances of getting back into the game were dealt a blow as the referee turned down a penalty appeal.  Lewis Driver had tackled the centre back and was through with only the keeper to beat only to be tripped from behind.

Whilst Port were still thinking about the penalty appeal Wokingham were awarded a free kick on the left edge of Ports box.  The Wokingham winger whipped in a great delivery that flew into the top corner, Port were two down after twenty four minutes.

Wokingham grew in confidence and had glorious chances to increase their lead, a diving header from two yards went straight at Port’s Murphy and another cross eluded everyone.

Then in the forty second minute a goal bound header was stopped on the line by Britnell’s hand – no complaints and he was duly given a red card and Wokingham had a penalty to make the game safe.  Garry Sargeant stepped up and his weak effort was saved by Murphy.

At half time Holyport were lucky to be only two nil down in what was the most disjointed and lack lustre performance anyone can remember for a long time.

To Holyport’s credit the side came out in the second and ran and gave it a real go as they pressed Wokingham and got more men forward.

As you would expect Wokingham had their chances to finish the game of but Murphy in Ports goal managed to keep them out with some timely saves.  As the second half wore on, the introduction of Wright and Handscomb  saw Port start to create some chances.Handscomb tackle the Wokingham centre back and delivered a cross for Jamie Wright to meet with a diving head to make it 2-1 after sixty minutes.

This goal saw Port begin to believe and Deverall had a chance but shot wide from a tight angle.   As Holyport pushed forward they were always going to leave gaps.  Wokingham scored their third from a long ball that eluded the Port defence and the Wokingham forward lopped Murphy to seal a deserved win for Wokingham.

Holyport continued to press and Deverall had a goal bound effort cleared off the line before Wokingham added a fourth in the ninety fifth minute.
