FT Kidlington 3 v 2 Holyport

HT Kidlington 3 v 1 Holyport

Holyport Scorers: Jamie Handscomb & Ben Sturgess

After Thursdays exit in the AM Print & Copy Floodlit Cup this game could not have started any better for Holyport as they were awarded a penalty in the 2nd minute. Jamie Handscomb stepped up and gave Holyport the lead.

Kidlington soon responded through Jack Quanton on 8 minutes,. Then on 13 minutes Kidlington took the lead when an unmarked player had a free header from six yards out. Holyport were visibly shaken by this and their ill discipline started to creep out.

From another set piece Kidlington made it 3-1, a free kick was not cleared and the Kidlington player hit a fine strike from 25 yards out that flew to Carters left.

Manager Sweetman made two substitutions at half time, bringing on Stuart Butler for Lewis Driver and Callum Coull for Daniel Rapley. These changes made an improvement and on 52 minutes Ben Sturgess and man of the match scored his first goal for the club since his move from Flackwell Heath a few weeks earlier.

Holyport pressed for the equaliser but the damage that was done in the first half proved to greater hurdle.
