Ascot started the game on the front foot and for the first 15 minutes Holyport could not get out of their half as Ascot picked up all the second balls and pinned Holyport back. To Ports credit they stood firm, and for all the pressure Ascot failed to create any clears cut chances.
It was with Holyports first attack of the game that they gained the upper hand. Driver received the ball on the edge of the box and turned his two markers who in the process brought him down, the referee awarded a penalty that Dan Rapley duly dispatched in the 19th minute.
This goal actually sparked some life into Holyport who then found their feet and took the game to Ascot. In the next minute Driver hooked a volley wide and Jeffries smashed an effort over when well placed after a Rapley cut back.
Ascot were then awarded a free kick after a Carter foul. Ascot’s Bennett stepped up and smashed his effort over.
Dan Rapley then set up Britnell who saw his effort fly over, then Rapley scored the goal of the game. Cutting inside his marker he curled a sublime effort into the keepers top left corner and left the keeper stranded on 29 minutes.
The game then settled down for a period until Handscomb latched onto a long ball, with the Ascot keeper advancing he lobbed the keeper to make it 3-0 in the 38th minute. A minute later an Driver was denied a penalty after being brought down again.
Ascot had their chances to get a goal back as Cooper Clark hit the bar and Bennetts rebound was blocked.
The second half started with Holyport content to sit back a little more and try to protect the lead. With Ascot pushing men forward it suited Holyport who used their pace to counter attack.
Carter was pulled into making a great reflex save in the 58th minute to tip a header onto the bar. Rapley was then released by Driver and looking for his hat trick but the Ascot keeper saved with his legs.
Holyport substitute Deverall had a goal bound shot deflected wide in the 73rd minute, from the resulting corner Rapley crossed for Handscomb who volley home to make it 4-0 (74th minute).
Not to be out done Ascot went straight down Holyport end and scored from a corner. The last few minutes saw Ascot throw everyone forward and they got a second goal on the 87th minute as Holyport eased off.
