Match Report Holyport FC
Berks and Bucks Quarter Final
Tuesday 14th Feb 2012
Kick off: 20:26
Wantage Town v Holyport FC
After finally playing after four postponements the game kicked off nearly 45 minutes late due to the linesman being held up on the way to the ground and with floodlight restrictions in place at Wantage this had a knock on effect meaning no extra time could be played if it was all square after 90 minutes.
Holyport started the brighter of the two sides but soon found themselves 1-0 down after poor marking from a Wantage corner. Port continued to press forward and got their deserved equaliser on 31 minutes as Ross Crawford scored his debut goal for Holyport.
Holyport continued in this vain and Dan Rapley gave Holyport the lead on 36 minutes. But just as it looked like Holyport would take this lead into half time Wantage scored their second of the game to make it two a piece going into half time.
The second half continued like the first with Holyport pressing forward looking for goals but they soon found themselves 3-2 down. They had to wait until the 83rd minute before Rapley and Hawkins broke and found themselves two v two. Hawkins made no mistake and brought Port level. The game ended at 3-3 and proceeded to penalties.
Holyport only needed the four penalties to record a place in the semi final with a home draw to Binfield FC. Hawkins, Sturgess, Rapley and Butler all scored whilst Wantage missed two of their four.
