TEN MEN PORT GO DOWN TO BOTTOM SIDE BRACKNELL TOWN AFTER A RUN OF FOUR WINS
They say football’s a funny old game as Port thought they were in for an easy ride but Bracknell Town had other ideas. Bracknell’s performance of grit and determination made one wonder how they had not won a league game all season.
Ports defence was like a Swiss cheese, full of holes and after hitting the woodwork Town took a deserved lead after sixteen minutes. Town spurred on by this continued to pepper Ports goal and but for the woodwork and some fine keeping by Warren Carter could have found themselves four down by half time.
Port started the second half in a more determined mood following manager Derek Sweetmans roasting at half time and started to show more promise but Town then increased their lead converting a penalty when keeper Warren Carter brought down Towns forward.
Port then realised they had to perform and manager Sweetman put his subs on to put some energy in the game but then James Flint had a mad moment due to frustration and got himself sent off.
Port pulled a goal back through Matt Rolfe after 76 minutes but alas this was not enough and try as they did putting constant pressure on the Town defence all was lost when Town sealed the win with their third goal on ninety minutes.
Derek Sweetman said my team have learnt a valuable lesson in that you must give your all if you are to progress in this Division especially as they could have moved up to fifth place but as they say “footballs a funny old game”
