After losing 3-1 at home to Ardley United just a month ago, Holyport were under no illusions just how difficult this game was going to be especially as Ardley had a fine 7-1 midweek win against Bracknell.
With Ardley attacking down the slope, they had the better of the first half and deserved the lead that came their way in the 21st minute.
The second half started in the same vein with Ardley the slightly better side, but with Holyport now able to use the slope they started to gain some momentum.
The turning point of the game came as substitute Steve Deverall got to the byline, his weak cross was parriedaway by the Ardley keeper Joe White after clashing with an Ardley defender. The loose ball was flicked goal bound by Lewis Driver only for the Ardley defender to use his arm to block the effort.
The Ardley player was given a red card and Holyport a penalty, in the clash Ardley keeper Joe White was injured. Joe managed to carry on and he saved the penalty from Dan Rapley. In saving the penalty he caused more damage to his shoulder and had to substituted.
With Holyport attacking down the slope and with Ardley down to 10 men Holyport scored five goals in 12 minutes. Callum Coull scored a brace on 70 and 78, Jamie Handscomb also scored a brace on 72 and 82 and Lewis Driver scored on 73.
The win keeps Holyport 7th and makes it three wins on the bounce.
Latest news on Joe White... Joe was kept in for observation due to concussion; he is also waiting an xray on his shoulder, and possibly a scan this morning. All at Holyport wish Joe well.
