All about our club, it's history, and the people

   Our History

Holyport Football Club was originally founded in 1934 and was re-founded after the Second World War in 1956. The current Honorary President, Mr. Norman House originally played for the Club and was their Captain for a period until he retired in the late 1960’s. He has now been associated with the club for a total of 50 years and together with Club Chairman, Tony Andrews and his son Jason, the three of them have almost 100 years of combined service.   Norman still attends matches and has a keen interest in the Club in it's Golden Jubilee Year.

After the club was re-founded the team was in the Maidenhead and District League and the home ground was in the Windsor Road at Bray. On leaving that league the club joined the Hayes and Giles League where they played their home games at Braywick Park. Holyport elected to leave that League at the end of 2001/2002 after three very successful seasons. They joined the Hellenic League Division 1 East at the beginning of the 2002/2003 season where they have finished 15th and 17th in respective seasons.

The club no longer play home matches within the parish as two seasons ago saw the club move to is new ground Summerleaze Village in North Maidenhead, after a spell at Braywick Park, Maidenhead.   This move signals the start of a new and exciting era for the club. Having secured the necessary planning permission as well as funding from the Football Foundation the new ground is currently in a state of continuous improvement.

At the start of last season the Club merged with Burnham Seniors who were looking to move into senior football.    As Holyport were looking to increase the number of players and field a team in the Hellenic League Division 2 it was a perfect solution for both clubs.    The current first team squad is drawn from both clubs.
